Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Reserve team coach Chris Hughton was delighted with the performance of his team following the 2-0 defeat of Southampton at White Hart Lane on Tuesday evening. After a heavy defeat at Charlton in the last League fixture, Hughton was seeking a response from his charges against an experienced Southampton side.

"We had a 5-0 defeat two weeks ago and I really wanted to get straight back into it," said Hughton. "I got a reaction last week (at Stevenage) and I certainly got it this week. If I look at the dominance we enjoyed, we played better than Charlton did against us last time out."

Hughton paid tribute to his wide men after the game. Opening goalscorer Ciaran Toner shone in the first half while Matthew Etherington excelled in the second period. "Toner scored a lovely goal and he had another chance when the keeper made a superb save.

"It was Ciaran's first game back after injury and he was desperate to do well. The only games he's played are Wimbledon away, a couple of friendlies and he's played almost as many international games this season as he has for us. He played for 90 minutes, which is important. We're at the stage now, because we haven't got so many injuries, that there is competition for places which is always nice to see, and I think it showed in the performance.

"When you are an out and out winger like Matty is, when the game opened up like it did, and particularly when we scored the second goal, that's the time when you really get more space and you can exploit it. He worked very hard in the first half and got into good areas, but of course it was harder for him because he was being marked much tighter. That's what happens early in the game and we earned the right to open up spaces in the second half."

With George Graham an interested spectator, Chris likes to feel that his side are always playing with a place in the first team firmly on their minds. "The manager was here, saw the performance and I'd be disappointed if all 11 players didn't have that in mind.

"Some of them have the ability to play in the first team. Due to injuries and suspensions you can get that opportunity if you work hard enough, but it's about staying there. Can a Davies or an Etherington work a way into the first team and stay there? They've played before, as have others, but it's about going in there and staying. They all need to put in performances on a regular basis at reserve team level, like they did tonight, and the manager will notice."
