Chelsea 3-0 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Wed 03 December 2014, 22:40|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino pinpointed Chelsea’s clinical finishing as the key difference between the teams as we fell to a 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

We started brightly and carved out a couple of chances – Harry Kane’s header came back off the crossbar and the same player fired across goal from the left angle with the scoreline still goalless.

But Chelsea struck twice in three minutes - Eden Hazard on 19 minutes, Didier Drogba on 22 - to take a stranglehold and it was always going to be an uphill struggle from there.

Neverthless, we took control of possession in the second half without really threatening and were then undone by Loic Remy, who put the issue beyond doubt with Chelsea’s third on 73 minutes.

“We played very well at the start of the game but we conceded the first goal and then the second three minutes later and that made it difficult,” reflected Mauricio.

“Chelsea were then comfortable and it was difficult for us.

“If we scored maybe the game would have been there for us but I’m disappointed because I think we deserved more.

“In the second half we managed the game well until they made it 3-0. We need to be more clinical. Chelsea were and that made the difference.

“Okay, it’s difficult after losing 3-0, but I think there are positives to take. We need to analyse the game but I think we are in a good way.”
