Change of luck now Clem's goal
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Steve Clemence is hoping his luck has finally turned after a miserable last 18 months.
Having featured over 30 times in 2000-01, the midfielder's troubles started at Blackburn Rovers in August last year when he suffered knee ligament damage.
A return at the turn of the year was ruined by groin problems and then, having impressed in the last few games of last season, his pre-season plans were wrecked by an Achilles injury.
'Clem' finally returned to first team action in last week's cup exit at Burnley and marked his Lane comeback with two goals in the reserves 3-1 win against Leicester City on Monday night.
He reflected afterwards: "I know it's only a reserve game but I think I deserve a couple of goals the way it's gone for me over the last 18 months.
"Hopefully the luck will start changing now and things are looking up."
Now 24, Steve turned back the clock with that double strike. "The goals were a bonus - it felt like going back to my youth team days!" he laughed.
"Goals used to be a big part of my game and probably why I got my first professional contract here. I scored 26, 27 goals in the youth team.
"As I've got older managers have seen me more as a holding player and I'm happy with that. If I'm in the team and I've got that job, I'll do it.
"We've a lot of quality going forward but obviously I'd love to score a few more goals.
"It was nice to play another 90 minutes. I felt tired after Burnley and it was disappointing and all I wanted to do was play football again. I wanted to erase that memory and I've managed to do that."
