Chairman's statement on new ticket prices

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dear Fellow Supporters,

As we approach the end of the season, I would like to set out our plans for ticketing at the Club.

I also want to tell you about a radical new publication — our Ticket Charter.

Firstly I should like to say that, despite obvious disappointments this season, I do feel we have moved forward - the Worthington Cup Final was a day to forget, but the fact remains that we reached a major Cup Final and the quarter final of the FA Cup in Glenn’s first full season.

As most of you will have seen recently the financial situation affecting many clubs, small and large, continues to be a concern. I strongly believe that when sound financial and football management are brought together appropriately the likelihood of achieving consistent success is greatly enhanced. The Club is proud of the sponsorship deals that have been signed, in particular those with Thomson and Kappa, both of which will be of great benefit. In our attempts to increase the revenues available to the Club I can assure you that we continue to investigate all avenues.

Be in no doubt that we are committed to be winners, but our future success must be built upon solid foundations that will continue to serve the needs of the Club for many years to come.

Ticketing — 2002/03

As part of planning ticketing for next season, we conducted a robust review of the ticketing structure, including a fan survey (a big thank you to those of you who participated, some 5000) and consultation with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust.

I am delighted to report that demand for tickets is high and the loyalty at the club has continued to strengthen.

All current Season Ticket holders will be able to renew their tickets but sales of additional Season Tickets will be limited. There will be an overall season ticket cap at 23,000. It is important for the long-term future of the Club to encourage young fans to attend matches, not to mention our strong body of Members. With a waiting list of over 7,000, priority will be given to young fans.

Although the cost of most Season Tickets has increased these still represent good value compared to match day prices. The ticket includes all home league games together with up to two home cup matches for season 2002/03. Season Ticket holders will continue to have priority to book their own seat for additional home cup matches.

For a number of years ticket prices for the North Stand have been at a substantial discount to those in the South. As part of this ticket review we feel it is appropriate that these are now brought into line although I am happy to say that there will be no increase in the prices charged for children and senior citizens season tickets in this stand.

Adult matchday ticket prices have risen in line with other increases but Members will continue to enjoy priority on booking tickets and the new On-line ticketing service will make availability easier.

Up front and open

We are determined to make the area of ticketing as transparent as possible, so shortly we will become the first Premiership club to publish a Ticket Charter.

This will explain the exact procedures involved when applying, purchasing, and owning a ticket, supply detailed contact information, answer frequently asked questions and clearly spell out the club's policies on all aspects of tickets, including the 'loyalty scheme'. There has been misunderstanding about the loyalty scheme and priority for tickets in the past. It was clear this needed to be addressed and that is what we are seeking to do.

A Ticket Charter is something that has never been done before, and I hope gives fans the confidence that we are totally focused on making you our number one priority at this club.

We intend to listen and lead by example at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and I hope you will appreciate that, as we strive to improve every aspect involved in running the Club.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and unrivalled support at every match. I look forward to welcoming you back to White Hart Lane for the new season.

Daniel Levy
