Chairman speaks to spurs (((on!)))
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
In his final spurs(((on!))) interview, chairman Daniel Levy reflects on the highs and lows of the season.
"The Manchester City game, I don't think I will ever forget it - being 3-0 up and ending up losing. It was absolutely gutting.
"It is always difficult to bring highlights to the fore as it has been a hard season. If you look at the squad, there is a nucleas of very, very good players in it. With a few additions in the summer I hope we will enter the new season with a very exciting team.
"I was pleased to see Ledley King and Paul Robinson called up to the England squad for Euro 2004 and I was very much hope that Jermain also gets the opportunity. It was also very pleasing to see Helder Postiga called into the Portugal squad and let's hope they all make a real impact."
In the second of his spurs(((on!))) interview items, chairman Daniel Levy comments on the departure of David Pleat and the support Spurs have enjoyed this season.
"I'd like to put on record, in response to a number of recent comments in recent months suggesting that the selection of the manager has been affected - or would have been affected - by the position of David Pleat or a director of football type person. Of all the candidates who have indicated that they would like to take this job, in no way has it had any bearing at all.
"David's contribution has publically been underestimated, I had and still do have a very good relationship with him and will continue to do so.
"He has bought in a lot of young players who have the potential to be first team players and some of which already are. I think David deserves a lot of credit and I hope at some time in the future he will still be able to introduce some players to us.
"I think the fans have seen over the last week that we mean business - there are exciting times ahead.
"I think the support has been exceptionally good. I'd particularly like to comment on the away fans, they are fantastic and travel up and down the country backing the team and have seen, in some games, some disappointing performances."
In the first of a series of three interviews with our mobile service spurs (((on!))), chairman Daniel Levy was asked about our new Sporting Director Frank Arnesen and for an update on a managerial appointment.
Daniel responded: "I think it's a real coup that we managed to attract someone like Frank to Tottenham because although we maybe a European club, we're not in Europe and haven't been for some years.
"I guess he could have gone to a number of clubs and I know other clubs there were interested in him.
"What Frank brings to us clearly is magnificent experience both as a player and technical director. He has obviously attracted some great players and some great coaches, the likes of Guus Hiddink, Sir Bobby Robson and he's been incredibly active in the transfer market - Van Nistelrooy was one of the players he spotted. That's something we hope he can do here.
"I wanted to sit back and look what has gone wrong with this club not just this season, last season but over a period of time because we wanted the time not just to look at what is the best management structure going forward but also to consider the best candidates and the best candidates are in a job and therefore we knew we would have to wait until the end of the season.
"We are very confident that we will be appointing a new manager in the near future."
