Celtic 1-6 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Sat 02 August 2014, 19:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino praised the attitude of the squad after our 6-1 win against Celtic in Helsinki on Saturday.

Up against a young side, we scored three times either side of the interval against the Scottish champions to maintain our unbeaten record in pre-season with the new Premier League season now less than two weeks away.

Head Coach Mauricio was pleased with the workout in the north-east of Europe - adding that the return to action of Emmanuel Adebayor, Nabil Bentaleb and Sandro was a welcome boost after all three made their first appearance of the pre-season campaign during the second half.

“It was a very good session for us,” said Mauricio. “After the result it seems like an easy game but it’s never easy to play against a young team like Celtic.

“We are really pleased with the players because they have a very good attitude which they showed in the game.

“It’s always important to welcome back players like Adebayor, Bentaleb and Sandro so that they are with the team.

“I’m very happy because we had a very good attitude. Always when you compete it’s an important test - always.

“For us it’s another session to arrive at the season in the best condition."

We return to the Lane for our final pre-season friendly this Saturday against Bundesliga side Schalke - kick-off 5.30pm - tickets on general sale...
