Caulker up for Potters challenge
Steven Caulker accepts that the challenge presented by Stoke City will be quite different to that of last weekend’s opponents Swansea City, but says the target is always the same - three points.
Tony Pulis’ side will once again provide tough opposition, using their own unique and highly successful style of football to frustrate our attempts of recording a fifth win in six Premier League games.
It's a style that's working - they have lost just three matches, away to Chelsea, Manchester United and Norwich City.
“I think Stoke are a tough side, a strong physical team and we know it is going to be a difficult test,” said the 20-year-old centre half.
“Not too many teams play that way, but they have a real presence about them and they do what they do very well. They are very hard to beat on their day."
It's a complete contrast in terms of opposition to last week's clash against Swansea.
“Obviously they are a very different team to Swansea, who like to play the ball out from the back and pass through midfield to their forwards, whereas Stoke are a little more direct," added Steven.
"Both teams play to their strengths though and they both present us with different challenges. It’s up to us to combat that and at the end of the day, it’s all about getting the three points, whoever we play."
This is an excerpt from Steven's main interview over six pages in tomorrow's official matchday progeramme.
