Case for the defence
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Kasey Keller reasons that our defence is hardly enjoying the rub of the green at the moment.
Against Charlton on Boxing Day, a nick off the the leg of Ledley King presented a clear scoring chance to Jason Euell - which he gleefully accepted - and, against Newcastle, the bounce of the ball fell kindly to offer a free shot to Gary Speed.
Against Charlton, the boys battled gamely to retrieve a two-goal deficit, but against Newcastle, despite a gallant effort, it was not to be.
"We just came up a little short," reflected Kasey. "It's really unfortunate because, in the first half, I thought we played some fantastic stuff and had a couple of chances.
"At the moment we just seem to be having that ball falling perfectly for teams - that first throw goes in, bounces around, then falls right to Gary Speed. 'There you go!' It's like spot up play, there was another one for Shearer from a deflection that he put wide.
"It's been one of those things where we are getting that going against us, but we're fighting back. Obviously an own goal got us back in the game, then we pushed but couldn't quite replicate the good moves that we had in the first half.
"They made it difficult for us and changed a few things in the second half. It was hard for us and, what a wet nasty pitch, man it was difficult trying to kick the ball out of that mud in the second half."
