Carr's away-day target
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Carr knows we have to banish our away-day blues at Coventry City on Saturday.
Away form was our big downfall last season with just five wins in 18 matches and we travel to Highfield Road with just one point out of a possible 12 so far this time around.
The Irish star admitted: “Our record already away from home has been dreadful, like last year, so we just have to try and stop all this from happening.
“It is important to pick up points away from home especially against the likes of Charlton and we should have also won at Leeds.
“It’s not as if we didn’t deserve to get anything out of these games it’s just that we’ve not been punishing teams and then we got punished ourselves and leaked goals.
“Coventry are doing okay but it’s important that we pick up three points.
“In the last few games we’ve had a great opportunity to go third and we haven’t taken it. We’ve dropped now to tenth so we have to get another three points to push us back up there.”
The frustrating aspect of what has been a disappointing last few weeks in the Premiership is that we’ve played well — goalkeepers Dean Kiely and Nicky Weaver denied us against Charlton and Manchester City respectively and we then scored three goals at Leeds - without reward.
Carr agreed. “Performances have been okay except in the last game where the defending, myself included, at set-pieces was poor and that’s what killed us,” he added.
“We’ve been playing well, creating chances and not really conceding goals and then we go and concede four in one game. That was disappointing.
“We scored three goals and that should have guaranteed at least a point. It’s important now to keep doing what we’re doing and hopefully it will come right for us and we’ll get a run of results.”
