Carrick's England delight
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Carrick reports that he's delighted to be back in the England squad for the tour of America later this month.
The midfielder last played for England in the friendly against Holland in August 2001 - coincidently, that match was at White Hart Lane - having made his full debut against Mexico three months earlier.
His performances have caught the eye of England boss Sven Goran Eriksson who named him in a 22-man squad to take on the USA at Chicago's Soldier Field on May 28 and then Columbia at the famous Giants Stadium in New Jersey on May 31. Jermain Defoe is also on the trip.
"It's something you work towards," said Michael at Spurs Lodge this afternoon. "This has been a big season for me, a big challenge first of all to get in the team on a regular basis and then hopefully doing well enough to get into the England squad. Thankfully, it has ended the season quite nicely.
"It's been a good season for the club in general. Obviously Middlesbrough was a massive disappointment last weekend but we're moving in the right direction, progressing well and my game has progressed with it.
"Perhaps last time I was with England I didn't appreciate how much it meant. Now I've got another chance and it will be great to be involved again."
