Carrick rounds off season
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Carrick completed his season with another impressive display in the heart of midfield as England overcame Colombia in New Jersey, with Jermain Defoe a 71st minute substitute.
The win saw Sven Goran Eriksson's side make it win-double on their short USA tour and it is Michael Owen who will grab the headlines following his hat-trick and moving into 4th place in the England all-time goalscorers chart.
After a fairly uneventful first half an hour, the game sprang to life six minutes later when Owen opened the scoring - the first of three goals in nine minutes. The Real madrid striker added to his tally on 43 minutes, slotting home confidently after a clever piece of work from Peter Crouch.
However, just before the break, a Yebes header from a corner kick somehow managed to sneak past goalkeeper David James and defenders to reduce the deficit.
The second half continued in lively mode with Owen netting his third with a fine volley from a David Beckham cross - his 32nd in England colours - before Colombia began to seriously test sub keeper Robert Green.
Colombia gained some reward for their improved display when Ramiriez made it 3-2 12 minutes before time in front of a crowd recorded at 58,000.
It has been a successful tour for Carrick who BBC pundit Alan Hansen afterwards described as the most influential player over the two games.
