Carrick relishes Cup double
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Carrick reports that he has enjoyed the focus being on the FA Cup for the last fortnight.
A draw in the original fourth round tie against West Brom at the Hawthorns saw to it that attention is on the Cup for a second weekend and Nottingham Forest - the prize for overcoming the Baggies in the replay - arrive at the Lane on Sunday.
"It is enjoyable after you've won a couple of games!" said Michael on the FA Cup theme. "It's given us a draw on Sunday that we should do well in and it is exciting times. I would rather be playing cup football than having a free weekend, that's for sure.
"I played Forest a couple of times last season and they are a footballing side with good traditions. I know there is a big gap league-wise but, as we've seen in the past, it doesn't always matter on a cup weekend.
"For us now it is the one thing we are capable of winning. We are still in the competition and looking to win it."
Meanwhile, looking back to last weekend's replay win over West Brom, Michael revealed the free-kick routine that led to our second goal was cooked up between himself and goalscorer Jermain Defoe - recently.
"It's only been a couple of years! No, a couple of months ago we were speaking about it and thought we would give it a try. Jermain gave me a shout and it worked - sometimes it doesn't. Thankfully when we needed it most it worked for us."
The midfielder admits he would have looked a bit of a mug if a West Brom defender had simply stepped across and intercepted his low pass into the path of Defoe.
"To be fair that did cross my mind. It did open up but, if you do something like that and it doesn't come off, you will get a bit of criticism. It worked so we are happy."
