Carrick on Les
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Carrick only has fond memories of Les Ferdinand during the striker's brief stay at West Ham.
The legendary hitman was at Upton Park for six months after ending a spell of almost six years at the Lane in January 2003.
The former England international scored 39 goals for us in 149 league and cup matches during what was an injury-ravaged time at the club.
'Sir Les' won the respect of all at Spurs during his time here and it was no different during his stay at West Ham.
"He has that presence and not many players have got that," said Michael. "When he's in the team or even around the changing room he brings the best out of people.
"Sometimes he doesn't have to say too much, just one or two things, but whatever he says you take on board.
"That's why he's had such a great career, everyone you speak to about Les has full respect for him and everyone loves him. He's a players' player, one of the lads and he's had a wonderful career."
Michael is expecting a tough afternoon from Sam Allardyce's high-flying outfit.
"They are very good team," he added. "I think Campo might be out and he's a good player for them but Sam Allardyce has bought well.
"They play with one striker and it's worked for them, especially so far this season. It will be a difficult game but you've got to look to win games like that, especially at home."
