Carrick on Clark

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Michael Carrick is looking forward to bumping into - literally - another of his fellow former members of the Wallsend Boys Club on Saturday.

The famous north-east club helped kick-start the careers of the likes of Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce and now two ex-players, Michael and Lee Clark, are set to come face-to-face when Fulham arrive at the Lane in the Barclays Premiership.

Clark is back with a bang after missing the first half of the season with a calf injury — he’s captain and scored a crucial late equaliser for Fulham against Villa recently.

Now 32, Clark has topped the 150-game mark for Fulham having previously played for Newcastle and Sunderland.

If he plays, he is likely to cross swords with Michael in central midfield.

Michael said: “Lee is someone I know from back home and we both played for the Wallsend Boys Club. He's older than me but he's a great lad and I’ve always got on with him.

“He likes a tackle but he’s also a clever player and he's been injured for a while, so it's good to see him back.”

Michael remains impressed that Chris Coleman’s team stick to footballing principles even though they’re at the wrong end of the table.

“They are in the mix down at the bottom but they will try to play their way out,” he added.

“They go the right way about it and it's looking more promising for them than it did.

“In recent years they've been the type of team that can go somewhere and win 4-0 and then get a poor result. You are never quite sure what to expect from them.

“But it's up to us to play our game. On our day if we play well we're capable of beating them.”
