Carr: We can banish Blues
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Carr believes Spurs can end their awful record against Chelsea, while improving their woeful away form.
Tottenham haven’t beaten their London rivals for 10 years and are without a success on their travels all season.
But Carr, a scorer in the 3-1 win over Derby last weekend, says the record has to end — sooner rather than later.
He told Sky Sports Centre: “Things are going OK for me, getting a goal or two is quite nice as well.
“I think it's more important that the team pick up results, especially starting with Chelsea away on Saturday.
“Our away form hasn’t been good and they’re meant to be our bogey team, so hopefully we can pick up a result there.
“You know the record has to change sometime. We have to get a result there at some stage.
“Chelsea are expected to beat us at home, especially after their result last week against Coventry. Their fans are going to expect a few goals.”
Surprisingly for a side managed by George Graham, Spurs have only kept one clean sheet on their travels this season and that was at Division Two Brentford in the Worthington Cup.
And Carr knows his side have to stop leaking goals if they are to start picking up points away from White Hart Lane.
“Hopefully, we can keep a clean sheet and get a result there.
“Without the results we’ve been playing OK. I think at Newcastle we were very poor but after that we’ve been playing well, it’s just that we haven’t been keeping clean sheets at the back.
“It’s going to have to improve drastically. At the moment it’s costing us dearly because we’re out of the top six. If we can get one or two results away from home it would make such a difference to us.”
