Carr out for six weeks

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Stephen Carr will be out for a further six weeks after being told he needs surgery for a hernia complaint.

The fans favourite and current Player of the Year at the Lane will go under the surgeon's knife on Friday.

Carr has been out since limping off at half-time at Southampton on December 27. The problem was initially with his groin and after rest, that problem cleared, but he did not feel right after his comeback against Manchester City last month and further consultations have revealed the hernia.

The Irish international revealed: "The groin problem healed but this has happened in the last month. I just want to get it done now and get back as soon as possible."

Speaking on Monday, just before going for the scans that revealed the hernia, Carr admitted that he was getting more and more frustrated on the sidelines.

He said then: "The injury has calmed down a bit now but it is still there and still bothering me.

"I just want to get it sorted out one way or the other to see where I stand.

"It’s very frustrating. It’s not nice watching games, especially now that it looks like I’ll be out of the quarter-finals.

"That will be disappointing but hopefully we’ll go through and I’ll be back in contention for the semi-finals."

With those semi-finals on April 9, it will be touch and go if he is ready if we manage to progress.
