Carr on injury blight

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Stephen Carr has spoken of his frustration at missing a large chunk of last season with a hernia injury when he was in a good run of form.

The Irishman’s season was in full dynamic flight, George gave further licence to thrill by adopting a wing-back system and Stephen was, really, the principal attacking threat of the team at the time.

But come December, the season of the ever-reliable Carr stalled — a rare injury sidelined the granite-tough flyer from Dublin — and there was no short-term fix.

"I got an injury and that set me back three months," recalled Stephen. "It was frustrating because I was enjoying a decent run of form. I though it might be a quicker return but I ended up missing a lot of important games."

After a brief aborted return against Manchester City and Stockport, Stephen returned to the fold as a fitness gamble in the doomed FA Cup semi-final at Old Trafford. He stayed in the side for the remaining games as his gradually built up his fitness.

"The second half of the season was a lot of downs and it’s just a matter of getting fit now. The injury came out of the blue. I just felt it coming into training one day.

"Once you feel that type of injury, a hernia, it doesn’t go away and has to get done. It was a bit of a nightmare but it’s all about how you cope with them."
