Carr: Kinsella can make Mark
English Barclays Premiership
Stephen Carr knows his team-mates will have to match the midfield bite of Charlton's Mark Kinsella on Saturday.
Our ever-impressive right-back is full of praise for his Republic of Ireland international colleague, pictured right, the Addicks skipper and inspiration.
"Mark has proved himself in the Premiership, started the season off very well and is very good player - probably Charlton's best player," said Carr. "He's also done very well for Ireland.
"It's going to be another tough game, another derby and like West Ham on Monday, I think it will be very tight. Charlton are doing well and especially at home they will come at us. We have to be ready for that.
"Hopefully we can pick up where we left off in the second half against West Ham. If we start like that we'll be flying."
Charlton look better equipped to survive the Premiership test this season with the latest newcomer Jonatan Johansson, a £3.25m buy from Glasgow Rangers, underlining Alan Curbishley's ambitions.
But they have had a mixed start since hammering Manchester City on the opening day and have had to come from behind to take points from Southampton and Derby is their last two outings.
Carr certainly expects a different story to when we met at The Valley back in 1998-99 - we cantered to a 4-1 win that day. "They are a totally different team," added Carr. "They have added to their squad, have quality players and the lads know it will be tough. It won't be like that 4-1 result."
