Carr: Injury just knee-ds rest
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
You could excuse Stephen Carr for having itchy feet at the moment.
Our outstanding defender’s knee injury forced him to miss the start of the Premiership season and playing in Ireland’s World Cup qualifying triumph over Holland on Saturday.
With the cure for his problem simply rest, he’s also had to do a lot of watching — something he admits he cannot stand.
But the rest seems to be working and Stephen has revealed that the problem has started to ease.
“It’s calmed down a little bit,” he said. “It’s just time. The bone takes longer to heal than the muscle unfortunately. There is nothing more I can do apart from rest and hopefully it won’t be too long.”
Stephen says he is trying not to think about the dreaded ‘o’ word.
“I’m not thinking about operations,” he added. “I’ve been told if I rest it, it will take a while, but if I rest it then it will be okay.
“There’s not a lot you can do with a bone to let it calm down. Hopefully it will calm down and I won’t have to go down the road of having an operation.
“Who knows though? At the start of the season I wouldn’t have dreamt of missing the start because my fitness was great. Things happen for a reason I suppose. I’ll continue to rest and see what happens.”
