Cameron thrilled with first leg performance

Cameron Carter-Vickers was delighted to help our Academy side keep a clean sheet in Thursday night’s FA Youth Cup win over Chelsea.

Goals from captain Josh Onomah and substitute Kazaiah Sterling gave us a 2-0 victory over the Blues in the first leg of the semi-final at White Hart Lane.

With the return match coming up Stamford Bridge in less than a fortnight’s time, centre-half Cameron was satisfied with our defensive display against the holders.

“I’ve played next to Christian Maghoma for a long time coming through the Academy, so we know each other very well and we combined well at centre-back again tonight,” said the 17-year-old.

“Our two full-backs worked really hard and so did the midfielders. Chelsea are a good team so it’s really good to be able to keep a clean sheet.

“It was tiring work out there but obviously it’s a good result, we defended well, hit them on the counter and it’s good to take a 2-0 lead back to Stamford Bridge in the second leg. We have the belief that we can go through.”
