'Cameron learning all the time' - Michel
08 August 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Michel Vorm believes young centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers will have picked up a lot during his 90-minute stint alongside Toby Alderweireld against Inter Milan.
Like Michel, Academy starlet Cameron has started every one of our six games in pre-season.
With Jan Vertonghen injured, Toby a late returnee from international duty after Euro 2016 and Kevin Wimmer picking up a slight hamstring problem that ruled him out of our two games in Australia, the USA youth international has had plenty of opportunities to continue his development in a senior environment under the watchful eye of Mauricio Pochettino in recent weeks.
Having seen the 18-year-old operate at close quarters on the pitch, goalkeeper Michel says Cameron is making progress all the time – and he reckons his shift alongside Toby in Friday’s 6-1 victory in Oslo was another step in the right direction.
“I think that Cameron has learned a lot this pre-season,” said Michel. “He’s played a lot of games and I think he’s getting better and better in his role.
“I also believe it’s quite easy for him to play with someone like Toby next to him, like he did against Inter – that was very good for him.
“The whole pre-season has provided great experience for a young guy like Cameron and you can see that he’s made steps so that’s very good.”
