Cambridge City 0-5 Spurs XI - Ramsey's reaction
08 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Chris Ramsey was delighted with our Spurs XI's application in Wednesday night's 5-0 friendly win against Cambridge City at Histon.
Nabil Bentaleb, Yago Falque (2), Ryan Fredericks and Cristian Ceballos were on target at the Glass World Stadium.
The goals from Ryan - a 35-yard piledriver - and Cristian - a sweet volley into the top corner - were particularly eye-catching as the turned on the style.
They didn’t have it their own way, however, as the home side put in maximum effort on the occasion of manager Gary Roberts and defender Lee Chaffey’s Testimonial.
Indeed, City created three good chances in the first half, all three falling to striker Lewis Wilson and all three saved by Jonathan Miles.
“These games can be difficult,” said Chris, our Senior Professional Phase Coach. “It’s a big occasion for the home team and we were more than happy to fulfil the fixture for Gary Roberts and Lee Chaffey, 10 years at any club is a real achievement.
“They are always a test because the other team will come out and put every effort in, it’s a huge occasion for them and you have to weather the storm somewhat before getting back to your own game.
“The lads applied themselves well and did a professional job. They certainly didn’t treat it like a Testimonial. We scored some fantastic goals and hopefully we’ll take that form into the season.”
