Calum on Peace Cup chance
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Calum Davenport has very much welcomed the opportunity of featuring in our last two Peace Cup encounters.
The central defender was drafted into central defence for the Sundowns win and kept his place in the side that took on Real Sociedad on Thursday, where a 1-1 draw secured our place in Sunday's final against Lyon.
Chances have been limited for the 22-year-old who joined from Coventry City last August. Loan spells at West Ham United and Southampton furthered his experience last term, but he is now hoping his Peace Cup performances improve his prospects of future selection.
"I've really enjoyed playing in the last two games, we're a good team who pass the ball well and I just want to be involved in as many games as I can," he reasoned, before reflecting on the Sociedad stalemate.
"I think when we went a goal up and they went down to ten men it looked like game over but, when we came out for the second half, we maybe got a bit sloppy and gave away a bad goal.
"We got the draw though and are still in the final, which is most important. Before the game we thought a draw would be good enough because of the goals we scored against Sundowns. When it went to 1-1 we were still pretty confident we would get to the final."
Lyon is now looming for the boys in Seoul on Sunday and the England under-21 international hopes our party have a piece of extra luggage to transport home.
"Lyon are a top European side as they proved last year. It will be a very difficult game, but we've got a good young side and in this type of game you have the chance to really impress and make a name for yourself.
"It would be nice to win, we've been out here for two weeks and it would be good to go home with a medal and the trophy. It has been great to play in the stadiums out here and do well - it is so far, so good."
