Calderwood not happy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Colin Calderwood was far from happy with the overall performance of his side following the goalless draw with Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Despite - with the exceptions of Gary Doherty, Chris Perry and Johnnie Jackson - fielding a team that was 19-years-old or younger, Colin viewed the display as an opportunity spurned to impress against League opposition.

"If you look at the age of it you can give yourself a little bit of an excuse," reacted the Scot. "But the talent that some of the boys have got has got to show itself.

"I know it showed itself in flashes, but it has got to come out more and more often - even if we are playing against League opposition. We've got to lift our own standards personally and as a team we've got to show a lot more.

"If we really want to achieve I've got to demand more of them and they've got to demand more of themselves.

"In patches it was nearly there, but I don't think we played in the way or style that we could have. I was slightly harsh on them after the game but you've got to make decisions - when you are playing in front of a crowd don't make a mistake that looks schoolboyish.

"As soon as we eradicate them they will become better players."

Colin agreed that the fact that his team do not get many chances to test themselves against League sides could have had some bearing.

"That is exactly right and that is why we try and get the boys out on loan. It would be nice to get them out as a group and see how we go - but we are not going to get that.

"So when we play against a league side, take the chance - grab the chance and see what you can do."
