Calderwood in friendly mode
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Colin Calderwood has filled in the two-week gap in-between competitive reserve team fixtures by arranging two training ground friendlies.
The second string will take on Gillingham on Monday and Aston Villa a week on Wednesday at Spurs Lodge to enable the boys to put training ground routines into practice rather than just wait for the visit of Leicester City on 24 September.
“We’ve got a couple of games arranged that will keep everyone’s fitness up and mirror a normal week,” said Colin.
“We can change things about a bit in these games and put things in place so that when we get back to league games you haven’t got the excuse that things are spasmodic and few and far between.
“I think it will be good for the players, just playing on the training ground isn’t ideal.”
Will the games also provide the boys with an end-product to aim for after days on end working on set pieces and keeping up match fitness?
“It does a little bit, it breaks up your week and allows you to plan and they are going to coincide near enough with first team games.
“There will be lots of changes, nothing to come and watch, just a training session really.”
