Burnley vs Spurs - Mauricio's preview

Sun 05 April 2015, 08:02|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino expects all our remaining eight games in the Premier League to be difficult – with a particularly tough test in front of us at Turf Moor today (Sunday, April 5).

We travel to face Burnley for the fourth time this season in a 1.30pm kick-off, having won our home Premier League encounter 2-1 back in December and come through a third round FA Cup tie as winners after a replay in January.

It’s our first domestic match in over a fortnight due to the international break, with both teams seeking maximum points for very different reasons.

The Clarets are battling to avoid relegation from the top flight, while we’ve an opportunity to boost our tally in the race for the European places at the other end of the standings.

With that in mind, Head Coach Mauricio expects a very competitive match today.

“I think that all Premier League games are difficult, but Burnley are playing to survive in the Premier League and we expect a tough game,” he said.

“We played them in the FA Cup and it was a tough tie. They are a very good team, a strong team and they were well organised on the pitch when we played them before.

“It’s a good challenge for us – we need to win the game and get the three points, which is important for us if we’re going to stay higher up the league table.

“We have respect for Burnley but we need to get the three points and we need to try to win the game.”
