Burnley v Spurs - opposing manager's view

22 December 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Burnley manager Sean Dyche reckons we have an ‘edge’ about us as he prepares his side for Saturday’s fixture at Turf Moor.

It’s sixth versus seventh in the Premier League’s 5.30pm kick-off, with the Clarets enjoying a fantastic season so far, which included a last-gasp 1-1 draw with us at Wembley back in August.

Speaking about us prior to this weekend’s clash, Dyche, who also takes his troops to Manchester United on Boxing Day, said: “They’re a fine side. I like what the manager is doing with his players.

“We have to be on our toes, like any other game, but especially for the upcoming fixtures. There’s certain teams that have that little edge and Tottenham Hotspur are one of them.”

Dyche is set to be without the services of centre-half James Tarkowski, who begins a three-match suspension following a violent conduct charge, but he’s remaining positive about the form his team is in.

“We’re progressing, you can see that,” he added. “It’s beyond the league table – on and off the pitch the players are delivering performances and I’ve been very pleased with that.

“You want to look at the team in the tunnel and know they are going to give everything for the cause. It gives you a better chance of giving what you want, and I think we have that.”
