Burchy looking ahead

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Rob Burch is looking for a loan switch next season to further his experience and long-term prospects at Spurs.

The young goalkeeper made his mark last season - not least on our pre-season tour of South Africa - but injury halted his progress towards the end of the campaign.

Burchy was on the bench as cover for Kasey Keller for the first half of the season but he knows that is unlikely to happen next term after the arrival of Paul Robinson and Marton Fulop.

So a loan looks the best bet for his continued progress although Rob is grateful for the confidence the club put in his ability last season.

"I'm only 20 and not a lot of clubs would have done that," he said. "I think they would have put me in if Kasey got injured but I didn't get the chance to prove myself in a competitive game.

"Hopefully next season I'll get out on loan, prove I can do it and get some league experience, come back the year after and then try to push whoever is here.

"I'd like to get out for a season and I don't care where it is as long as I can gain some experience.

"I played a lot in pre-season and that was good for me although I didn't play as much as I would have liked in the season.

"I got injured just after Christmas and hardly played at all after that. I think I trained well and it's nice people have noticed that."

Rob has already benefited from a loan spell at Woking a couple of years ago. "I was only there for a month and it toughened me up," he added. "I didn't think I played too well but people came back and said I did well and coped with the toughness of it as well. I learned a lot from it."
