Burch back in the fold
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Goalkeeper Robert Burch has returned to the club from his loan spell at Conference side Woking and feels that he has benefited from the experience.
His stay at the Surrey club was not extended due to injuries to fellow Spurs keepers Lars Hirschfeld, Shwan Jalal and Gavin Kelly but, such is his progress, Rob started the game for the England under-20 side against Switzerland last week.
The 19-year-old endured something of a baptism of fire at Woking, who are struggling near the foot of the Conference, but he contributed towards some positive results against the leading teams in his final three games.
"It started off with ten goals in two games and I thought 'what am I doing here?'" reflected Rob, who replaced Jalal on loan at Kingfield. "In the end I enjoyed it, it was good to play in front of crowds all the time.
"To be honest I'll miss it, I missed it on Saturday, I played for the under-19s and it is totally different football really.
"The defending in the last three games was better and it made it easier. I still had things to do and it was good in the end. It was a good experience.
"The club wanted me back as cover for Sully though - and it is nice to be back."
After featuring for a 20-minute spell against Germany at Reading last month, Rob was called on from the start against the Swiss before being replaced at half-time by Chelsea's Rhys Evans.
"I played in a friendly against Switzerland last Wednesday. I started and played the first 45, so it was nice to get the No.1 shirt," he reported of the game that was goalless at half-time and finished 1-1.
"There is another game against Italy coming up so it would be nice to be called up again.
"This year has been unbelievable and I didn't expect any of it. It's been good for me."
