Michael Brown aims to be fit for the start of the Premiership campaign after battling against two injuries over the summer.
The midfielder spent a number of weeks in a protective boot after breaking a bone in his foot against Newcastle in April.
That injury ended his campaign and he took the opportunity with the medical team to finally put right a stomach problem that had been troubling him since the turn of the year.
Browny, who excelled in central midfield with Michael Carrick for almost six months of last term, reported: "The foot took 12 weeks in the end and is still a touch sore now, but it should be okay.
"I'd carried the stomach injury since January, a little nerve problem. It got better with rest when I had the cast on my foot but once I started picking up training again I could feel it again.
"We tried lots of things but in the end I went for surgery, there was a little problem with a nerve and we managed to get that out.
"I'll be able to start running next week. It will take time to get my fitness up to scratch but I'll get my head down and get there as quickly as I can.
"Hopefully I'll be fit for the start of the season and I'm aiming to be able to do everything two weeks before that. I won't be match fit, but fit to train fully.
"It's been a nightmare watching the lads and I've been walking around the training pitches while they've been working. I'm aiming to join them when they get back from South Korea."
