Brownie's Deano delight
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Michael Brown insists he felt only delight for Dean Marney when the Academy product stepped into his boots and made such a positive impression during his two-game absence.
A groin injury saw to it that Michael missed the encounters with Everton and Manchester United before the tigerish midfielder made his return for the FA Cup clash with Brighton. It was against Everton that Dean really caught the imagination with two goals of the highest quality.
"I've got to say, we've been waiting for Deano and he has been with the lads for quite a while now," reflected Michael. "He just had to wait for his chance, everyone was pleased for him and we were all jumping up and down on the bench. I'm chuffed to bits for him, really delighted.
"It is great to watch him, he got his chance and did well."
Since being given licence to bomb forward by Martin Jol, Michael has been striving to add goals to his game - notching one against Norwich on Boxing Day - so he could have been forgiven for feeling a hint of envy with Dean managing two in his first.
"It would have been nice to play in a game like that and maybe get a goal. At the end of the day though, it is not about that - it is about getting results," added the rarely injured player, who is hopes one injury is his lot for the season.
"I've had five days out and hopefully that is the end of it now. I always want to play through but when the specialist says you can't play you've got to listen to them.
"It was probably a wise decision to miss the Man Utd game but, with the Everton game, there was realistically no chance with it only happening the day before."
