Brown: Trip outside the area

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Michael Brown insists that his foul that led to Fulham's penalty leveller on Saturday was outside the area.

It was Louis Boa Morte who broke through on the stroke of half-time at Loftus Road before his run was halted by Michael and referee Mr Messias pointed to the spot, allowing Steed Malbranque to equalise following Robbie Keane's earlier penalty.

However, replays have shown that the offence took place on the edge of the area and Michael admits that the timing of the goal was a psychological blow.

"It was difficult for us, we were doing quite well, were 1-0 up and I thought we were going to go in ahead at half-time and get the break that we needed," he considered after the game.

"It was right on half-time when the lad slipped through, I caught him and it was outside the box. The ref thought it was inside and it is one of those things.

"The guy from ITV said to me that it was right on the edge - on the edge means not in. That's life and you've got to get on with it."

Playing conditions were certainly tricky on Saturday, with the rain and swirling wind providing an interesting sub-plot that Michael feels the teams dealt pretty well with.

"It was very bad - you could see that from the problems with kicking for the goalkeepers. It was very difficult to get hold of the ball and make it game and the pitch was hard to play on with the rain.

"It was the same for both sides and I think we both adapted quite well to it."

It's Manchester City in the FA Cup 4th round replay next on Wednesday and the midfielder welcomes a quick chance to be back in action.

"We've got an early chance to put it right on Wednesday and I prefer the games to come thick and fast. It will be good to play again soon after a loss.

"We were disappointed in there, we fought hard and I don't think it was a poor performance."
