Bradford City fire disaster - minute's silence this weekend

Fri 24 April 2015, 12:11|Tottenham Hotspur

Players and supporters will observe a minute’s silence ahead of our Premier League match at Southampton on Saturday, as all top flight clubs unite to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Bradford City Fire Disaster.

Timed to coincide with Bradford City’s last home game of the season this weekend, the applause will commemorate all those who were affected by the events of May 11, 1985, when 56 people died and hundreds more were injured when a stand caught fire at Valley Parade.

Peter McCormick, Acting Chairman, Premier League, said: “The Bradford Fire was one of the most terrible tragedies ever to strike English football. It will be forever remembered by all football fans not only for the loss of the life but also for the many acts of bravery by the emergency services and the fans themselves.”
