Brad relishing Euro campaign

Brad Friedel is relishing the challenge of this season's Europa League campaign.
The goalkeeper has played four of our eight matches so far and became the oldest player to appear in the competition when he lined-up against FC Sheriff on November 7.
Having progressed through the group with six wins in six matches, we now face Ukraine team Dnipro in the Round of 32. We travel to Dnipro on February 20 with the return at the Lane on February 27.
“It’s a very good competition to try to win,” said Brad. “Now the Champions League teams have dropped into it, the Europa League becomes very strong and it becomes a very difficult tournament to win.
“But it is one where we are going to go into the games very confident. I know we will play a strong team and we really want to try to lift the trophy.
“I think every time your pit yourself against the best teams, whether that’s domestically, internationally or in the European competitions, it’s fantastic for all the players. You get wonderful atmospheres and they are really pleasurable games to play in.
“I really enjoyed the Tromso trip. That’s all about the culture of football. When you get to go to parts of the world where there’s only 42 minutes of daylight in a day, you’re playing on a plastic pitch and you see all the snow around – it’s fantastic. We went to a beautiful little city and I think it’s trips like that which are really good, especially because it’s nice for the younger players to be able to go around and see different parts of the world. It’s what evolves us as human beings, not just footballers.”
