Bottoms up!

Harry Redknapp stressed the importance of climbing off the bottom of the table after Sunday's fine win at Manchester City.

Harry Redknapp stressed the importance of climbing off the bottom of the table after Sunday's fine win at Manchester City.

Darren Bent struck in each half as we recovered from going behind to take control for long periods following the early sending off of City midfielder Gelson Fernandes.

Heurelho Gomes produced the saves when required to deny City an equaliser in their best spell in the second half to secure maximum points, a third league win in our last four matches and a jump from 20th to 16th in the Barclays Premier League.

"It was important to get off the bottom," said Harry. "Two weeks ago we had two points and that could be scary if we hadn't had a good run.

"If we hadn't had this run we could have been way adrift.

"The whole league is so close, there's nothing in it. Everyone is scrapping away. Villa looked certs to finish fifth, but they were beaten at home by Middlesbrough. You can throw a blanket over the rest, it's so close."
