Both teams play to win - Mauricio on Liverpool

Mauricio Pochettino can see similarities between ourselves and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool - with both teams determined to come out on top in Saturday’s potential cracker at Anfield.

We travel up to Merseyside for a 5.30pm kick-off sitting in second place in the Premier League on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run, including seven wins.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are fifth and without a win in five after a difficult 2017 so far, but they have still only lost two of their last 10 in the Premier League.

All three league matches between the teams have ended in draws since Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool in October, 2015 – indeed, the first meeting at the Lane was Klopp’s first as Reds’ manager.

Mauricio said: “Both teams are aggressive, both teams play to win and we have the ambition to achieve big things.

“The level is very similar, they have good players, we have good players, they have a clear idea of how they want to play, we too. I think it will be tough for both teams.

“We’ve had a very good week preparing for the game, we’re focused and we know face a tough game against Liverpool, one of the best teams in England.”
