Boss on transfer latest

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn reports that negotiations with Real Madrid over the signing of Fernando Morientes are very much still on-going and insists that the striker wants to join the club.

The boss was quizzed over potential forward signings at his pre-home match press briefing and admitted that the deal for the Spaniard is a 'difficult one'.

"All I can say really, without going into major detail, is that we're still trying to negotiate a deal and it's a very difficult one," said Glenn.

"I know he wants to come, but there are all sorts of added situations that are out of our hands at the moment. We forage forward with it."

Glenn reveals that Morientes is not his only option in the quest to secure the services of a striker and says that he would be happy if a deal for any one of three players could be struck.

"I've got a list of players if that one doesn't come to fruition and there are quite a few players that I'm interested in.

"At this moment in time I've got about three people who I would call my No.1 target, players I'd be very happy to bring in if we could get them.

"With this transfer window as it is, it is very difficult - you have to keep all the balls juggling. There are more things to it now with swap deals, loan deals - it's more complicated now.

"It's still on the go and I'm still optimistic something can be done."

"I know the lad (Morientes) would come if everything could be sorted out and it's as simple as that. We'll have to wait and see, we're just in the middle of it now."

The deadline for transfers falls at the end of the month and Glenn is confident of having one or two new faces in place by then.

"Yes I am. I'm confident that we can make a signing, or two - that's the preference. But we'll wait and see.

"We'll do what's right for me and the team, we have to get the right blend, that's what we're looking to do. If we can get two in, or one in, then I think it would be a boost for us at the right time."
