Boro v Spurs - Mauricio's preview
24 September 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino is faced with what managers will describe as a ‘good problem’ as we face Middlesbrough today.
The performance of the team in the 5-0 win against against Gillingham in the EFL Cup in midweek means Mauricio will have plenty of decisions to make as he plots his starting 11 for the Riverside Stadium. We kick-off at 3pm.
“Every day you make decisions,” he said. ”It’s important the competition is tough, everyone is ready to compete and wants to take a place in the starting 11 in every game. That’s good for us because it increases our level.”

Mauricio knows Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka from their time playing in Spain, Mauricio with Espanyol, Karanka with Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid.
He joined Boro in 2013 and guided them back into the Premier League for the first time since 2008-09 by finishing second in the Championship last term.
The pair also spent time together as they worked to gain their UEFA coaching badges.
“We have a very good relationship, we played against each other a lot of times and it will be good to see him,” said Mauricio. “He’s done a fantastic job in the last few years, especially promotion to the Premier League.
“Middlesbrough are a team with a lot of good players, players we know well from Spain or England and it will be tough. We will need to show our quality, it’s an important game for us.”
