Book of Remembrance for Dave Mackay

Mon 23 March 2015, 16:10|Tottenham Hotspur

The Club will open a Book of Remembrance for fans wishing to pay tribute to the late, great Dave Mackay, who sadly passed away on March 2.

The Book of Remembrance will be opened tomorrow (Tuesday, March 24), the same day as Dave's funeral in Edinburgh.

The Book of Remembrance will be located in the Family Room off the West Stand Car Park at White Hart Lane.

Fans can come and pen their tributes from 1.30pm-11pm on Tuesday, then from 10am-6pm for the rest of this week.

A powerhouse in midfield, Dave inspired all around him and drove us to the league and FA Cup double in 1961, the FA Cup in 1962 and the history-making European Cup Winners Cup win of 1963.

He went on to play 318 times for us in all competitions between 1959-68, scoring 51 goals.

It's testament to Dave's character that he recovered from breaking his leg twice - so often a career-ending injury in that era - to captain the team and lift the FA Cup again at Wembley in 1967.

The Club is also in discussions with Dave’s family and a local Reverend with regards to a memorial service in Enfield. The Book of Remembrance will be available at this service. We shall keep supporters updated on this.
