Bitter sweet for Paul
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Paul Konchesky described his first North London derby as a 'great experience' but could not hide his frustration at coming out on the losing side.
The last time the versatile on-loan star started a game at Highbury his team, Charlton, emerged victorious by a 4-2 scoreline. Another win did not appear beyond reach for large periods of the game as, a goal up through Darren Anderton, the boys took the game to Arsenal and could have been ahead by a greater margin.
As it transpired it was not to be and two fortunate second half strikes from Robert Pires and Fredrik Ljungberg saw the points end up in the home account.
"We knew it was always going to be hard," reflected Paul. "For me, it was my first North London derby and was a great experience.
"The lads battled right until the end and, really and truly, were beaten by two poor goals and deserved better.
"We were doing well and 20 minutes into the second half I think Arsenal were a bit rattled. If we could have put away a couple of chances it could have been a different matter - everyone is very disappointed.
"Helder had a couple of chances, but we still had opportunities after that and we are disappointed to lose. It was probably the best chances we've had to beat them for a while."
Paul suspects that if the manner of performance is now taken into forthcoming games then due reward will not be far behind.
"All of us worked really hard and worked for each other - I think that's why we are doing alright at the minute.
"Of course we have to take it on. The attitude is right in the camp and if everyone works for each other like that I think we can go quite far."
