Big game for Spurs Ladies
09 April 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs Ladies' focus may well be on three cup finals, but they have a huge game in the FA Women's Premier League on Sunday.
They take on league leaders Brighton at Cheshunt FC with the visitors needing a win to secure the title.
Brighton have won 16 of 21 matches so far in the FAWPL and one more will take them out of reach of two chasers, Charlton and Cardiff.
However, Spurs still need points to guarantee a top-six spot for the second-successive season, so the cup finals - the first of which, the Ryman Cup, is on Thursday (April 14) - will take a back seat tomorrow.
"It's a big game for both teams," said manager Karen Hills. "We've said since we made it into the cup finals that we wouldn't take our foot off the pedal in the league and this is a key test of that.
"The players are all fighting for places in the finals and with that in mind, we're watching performances closely.
"Brighton are a good side, they've proved that again this season and they will be all out to get the win to clinch the title.
"It's up to us to put in a good shift and for the players to try to show they are worthy of a place in the Ryman Cup Final on Thursday. We're pretty much back to full strength and the players have it all to play for."
Meanwhile, more good news for the ladies - Ronnell Humes and Lucia Leon have been selected to represent the English College FA's (ECFA) national team in Portugal next week. They have matches Benfica and Pontinha. Ronnell and Lucia both attend Barnet & Southgate College - one of our Foundation's Football Development Centres.
