Beware the Bees

English Barclays Premiership

Tottenham players are insisting Tuesday's Worthington Cup tie against Brentford is not a foregone conclusion.

The Bees travel to White Hart Lane in the second round, second leg after holding us to a goalless draw in the first leg at Griffin Park last week.

We are odds-on favourites to progress to round three but the message from the dressing room was that nothing will be taken for granted against the Second Division outfit.

Ron Noades' men certainly travel to N17 with nothing to lose and will have taken heart from snatching a 2-2 draw at Notts County on Saturday with a last-minute goal from Scott Partridge.

Midfielder Steffen Freund said: "It is still tough at home. If we go 1-0 up inside 10 minutes then perhaps it will be a little easier but just look at the other results - Man City, Ipswich, they also struggled.

"These games in the cup are never easy. All the leagues in England are very strong."

Centre-back Ramon Vega commented: "Obviously we saw Brentford last Tuesday when we played at their place but we now play at home and it is a different matter. It will be tough but hopefully we can go through."

Striker Steffen Iversen, pictured in action at Griffin Park, added: "It won't be easy. Every game in England is a tough game but just have to keep playing the way we've been playing and then we will have a good chance of winning.

"If we create the same amount of chances as we have in the last three games then one must surely go in the net. We've created so many chances but the goalkeepers we've come up against have been so good."
