Best so far for Tony
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Anthony Gardner feels he is enjoying his best season at the club as he prepares to attempt to shackle a striker he believes is one of the finest in the game.
The central defender, who has been plagued by injuries over the last couple of seasons following his recruitment from Port Vale in January 2000, has only suffered a couple of short absences this season and has featured strongly - rewarded with a call up to the England squad for the friendly against Denmark earlier in the campaign.
"I've been quite consistent and it's been one of my best seasons at the club in terms of playing games," he reflected. "Some results haven't gone our way and I've not played as well as I could but overall I'm pleased.
"We've 11 games to go and I'm looking at continuing that consistency, staying in the team and then I'll be able to look back at it at the end of the season and think 'yes, I did okay'."
Two out of Anthony, Dean Richards and Gary Doherty will now be charged with quelling the threat of former England captain Alan Shearer when Newcastle visit the Lane this afternoon - a player Anthony has great respect for.
"Shearer is at the very top. You have to say Van Nistelrooy and Henry as well but he's been doing it season after season banging in 20, 25 goals a season.
"He's there again this season, top scorer in the league and scoring goals in Europe. He's a great player, experienced and his all-round game - there aren't many strikers like that in the league. You always have to be aware of him and you always have a tough battle against him.
"He's strong, good in the air, lively around the box. Defenders can struggle with his style and he does tend to get a few decisions go his way. He's clever. His doggedness and physical presence can create goals. He's very good at what he does and always a threat."
