Dimitar Berbatov remembers well his competitive debut in our colours against Bolton and hopes the outcome will be very different this time around. The Bulgarian international made his first Premiership start at the Reebok Stadium on the opening day of the season and it must have proved something of a shock when we were 2-0 down after just 13 minutes in a game where it must have been particularly difficult for the new boys to make an impression - a sentiment he quickly agreed with.
"Yes it was my first game in England it was hard for me," said the striker. "Bolton are a physical team, but now they are coming to White Hart Lane and a long time has passed since my first game.
"Things are different now. We play at home and have a great chance to win, but we know it will be difficult."
Dimitar has netted three goals in his last two games after breaking his away-day duck in England with his double strike against Fulham in the FA Cup last Sunday. He topped up his tally for the week with the opener against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday with a fine first-time hit from an Aaron Lennon ball from wide and insisted he gave no consideration to taking a touch.
"No, you just think for a second or two and the thought going through my mind was to shoot instantly. I did that and fortunately it was a great shot to make it 1-0."
