Benoit Assou-Ekotto created Cameroon's best chances as his side suffered a 1-0 loss against Mexico in their Group A opener at the World Cup in Brazil.
The full-back's low cross was diverted onto the post by Samuel Eto'o after 22 minutes and his free-kick from 25 yards was deflected just wide on 58 minutes - both with the scoreline still goalless in Natal.
Mexico, who had the better of the game, went ahead on 61 minutes through Oribe Peralta of Santos.
Benoit was there again to create one final chance for Cameroon in injury time, but his cross from the left was headed wide by Benjamin Moukandjo of Nancy.
Cameroon are back in action against Croatia on Wednesday (11pm UK).
The next Spurs interest sees Hugo Lloris and France take on Honduras in Group E on Sunday (8pm) while our Belgian trio of Nacer Chadli, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen face team-mate Nabil Bentaleb and Algeria in Group H on Tuesday (5pm).
