Benfica vs Spurs - team news

19 March 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Younes Kaboul is sidelined for tomorrow night's Europa League Round of 16, second leg against Benfica.

The central defender hasn’t made the trip out to Lisbon but Tim Sherwood is hopeful he’ll be ready to face Southampton back in Premier League action at the Lane on Sunday.

“Younes had a fitness test before Arsenal and did well, he got through it,” said Head Coach Tim ahead of training at the Estadio da Luz. “This game has come too soon. Fingers crossed he’ll be ready for Southampton on Sunday.”

Jan Vertonghen is suspended after picking up a second yellow card in the first leg and with Vlad Chiriches and Michael Dawson still sidelined, Tim will have to reshuffle his central defensive line.

Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring, heel), Paulinho (calf) and Kyle Walker (pelvis) have also stayed in London. Mousa Dembele (hamstring), Etienne Capoue (ankle) and Erik Lamela (back) also remain out.
