Ben wary of Partizan

Thu 27 November 2014, 10:25|Tottenham Hotspur

Europa League ever-present Ben Davies says Partizan Belgrade are a dangerous proposition heading into tonight’s meeting at White Hart Lane.

With two matches left in Group C, our visitors are mathematically unable to qualify for the knockout stages of the continental competition, with only Asteras Tripolis having the potential to dislodge either ourselves or Besiktas in the top two positions.

Three points this evening would rubber-stamp our progress into the next round.

But left-back Ben, who has started in all six of our Europa League games in 2014-15 to date, says it won’t be easy to get a positive result in spite of the Serbian side’s predicament.

“I thought Partizan were very good at their place, we had to dig in a little and the atmosphere created by their fans made it a difficult night at times,” he said.

“They’re out of the equation in terms of qualifying themselves but they could come here and play with a bit of freedom as a result.

“We certainly won’t be taking them lightly. We’re at home and will be looking to make it as difficult as we can for them at the Lane, as they did for us in Belgrade.”
