Ben ready for tough matches ahead

Ben Davies arrived back at the Club with a smile on his face following Wales’ table-topping endeavours in the Euro 2016 qualifiers before quickly turning his attentions to the vital games we’re set to face in the next month.

With two games a week in three different competitions between now and the next international break in November, it promises to be a demanding period for us.

It all gets underway with one of the toughest games of the Premier League season – away at Manchester City – on Saturday lunchtime, before we take on Europa League Group C leaders Asteras Tripolis looking for our first victory at that stage of the competition next Thursday.

Ben, who helped Wales keep a clean sheet against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday and was on the bench as his nation beat Cyprus 2-1 on Monday – results that took them to the top of the Group B standings in Euro 2016 qualifying, isn’t underestimating the challenges ahead.

“I’m very happy with how it’s gone with Wales over the last couple of weeks – we’re top of the group and unbeaten so far, so we’re delighted as a group,” said the 21-year-old, named as Welsh Young Player of the Year by the FA of Wales last week.

“We had a tough match against Bosnia who I think came expecting a victory against us but we had the better chances and could really have snatched the game, so overall it was a successful campaign.

“But it’s quickly back down to business here at Spurs and the standard of the games we’ve got coming up now – they’re going to be tough but they’re matches we’re ready for as a squad.”
