Ben keen on second win on the spin

25 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Ben Davies says our defenders are determined to keep another clean sheet when we host Norwich City on Boxing Day.

The Welsh international left-back came into the side last weekend at Southampton and helped us keep Ronald Koeman’s men at bay, with goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli securing a 2-0 win on the south coast.

Ahead of our first outing at White Hart Lane since our disappointing 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United earlier this month, Ben has underlined the need to remain solid at the back once more as we bid to register back-to-back league wins for the first time since early November.

“For us as defenders, a clean sheet is what we always look for,” he said. “That’s what we got last weekend and hopefully we can get another one on Boxing Day.

“It was a good result for us away from home against Southampton, but now we want to bring that momentum into the game against Norwich.

“They had a big win at Manchester United last week so we’ve got to be aware that they’re going to be looking for something out of the game this week too, but hopefully we’ll stay solid, the boys up front can score some more goals and we can take the three points.”

With the game taking place on Boxing Day, Ben believes there’ll be an extra-special atmosphere at White Hart Lane with the holiday season very much in full swing.

“Matches around this time of year are always brilliant,” he said. “It’s nice to have games around the Christmas period when everyone is in good spirits and the fans are in good voice. It should be another great atmosphere and we’re looking forward to the game.”
