Barn dance for Clive
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Clive Allen had plenty of positives to ponder after watching his reserve side beat Arsenal - but only one player could top his list.
That player was Lee Barnard. The young striker claimed a second-successive hat-trick in our reserve colours to help secure the 4-3 victory and make it 17 goals in 16 reserve outings this season.
'Barney', who also hit three against Derby last time out, netted from the penalty spot to cancel out Arturo Lupoli's opener after 15 minutes, tapped home a rebound for 2-1 after 35 and following Michael Malcolm's goal on 63 minutes, completed his trio with a low finish across Stuart Taylor into the far corner after 72 for 4-1.
Ryan Smith's penalty and Lupoli's second meant a few scares before the final whistle but nothing was to ruin Clive or Lee's night.
"It's all credit to Lee," said coach Clive. "He's been away on loan, come back and when he's played for us he's always looked hungry for goals.
"His finishing has been clinical, his workrate's been fantastic and there are certainly people taking note of what he's doing. It was a very pleasing night all round.
"I thought we were unfortunate to go behind and the lads really showed their character and quality out there. It was a great result."
